Handling & Safety

Food and Treat safe handling tips

Raw food:

Keep frozen until ready to feed. Most customers remove enough cubes the day before feeding and thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Immediately after feeding wash your hands and the bowl in hot soapy water. Never leave the food out or in the bowl. Most dogs eat their raw quickly so no worries. If they do not eat within a few minutes, refrigerate for the next meal.

Frozen cubes should last several months in the freezer. Do not use after thawed for over 3 days. I recommend thawing the day before to keep it fresh.

Dehydrated treats:

My frozen treats like Chicken feet, Pizzle, Gizzards, and Salmon, should be kept frozen, I give to my dogs frozen for longer chewing. These treats are dehydrated but because of the high moisture content they are subject to bacterial growth. Keep in mind I do not use any preservatives.

The dry treats in the bag are closed with a food grade oxygen eater, they will last 3 – 5 months until opened. After opened the shelf life is 1 to 2 weeks. If you are buying in large quantities, store the bags in the freezer where they will be good up to 6 months until opened.

Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions about the food or treat handling.
