About Us
I received my certificate in Canine Nutrition (Cert.) in 2007 and started making my own raw dog food immediately. At first it was for the health of my two senior dogs who were diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome within two years of each other. I sought other alternatives to traditional medicine because the treatment for Cushing’s can be as deadly as the condition itself. Because of the switch to homemade raw dog food, both dogs lived several more years and their quality of life improved significantly.
We should all do our own research, get facts from reliable sources, and make our own decisions about the treatment of our companions. I am and always will be a raw feeder. I have seen the results in both my own dogs and my customer’s dogs.
Assuming you have also made the decision to go raw, you probably already know the challenges. Commercial raw or freeze-dried raw dog food kills all the bacteria to reduce their risk. Good and bad bacteria are both needed to build good gut flora.
It's important to note that homemade dog food can be the worst or the best depending on balance. Balancing a meal is more complicated than you would think and can cause more harm than good.
I developed my "Everything but the Meat" supplemental mix for people who want to make their own homemade dog food and supply their own trusted source of protein. I buy my vegetables and fruits from local farmers markets and freeze dry them for a stable shelf life. Added seeds, oils, and vitamins and minerals provide everything but the meat for a balanced meal.
